What can be posted?

What do we post? The Bow Valley Mountain Forum focuses on community events. We do not post most commercial business events or concert listings - unless they are likely to draw very large crowds - because a number of other resources already cater to these event listings. If you are unsure about whether your event falls within our guidelines, contact us anytime. You must be a registered member to post events to the calendar.

Step 1: Register or Log In

Adding your event is easy!

First, register on the site or log in if you have already registered. To protect the site from spam, only registered users who are logged in can post contentIf you are logged in, your First and Last Name will appear under the search box on the top right corner of the site. The First and Last Name that you specify when you register will identify you as the author of this posting. They are the only pieces of information about you that other site users can see. You can invent a pen name when you register if you wish. More information about privacy and registration is available here.

Step 2: Open a New Event

Next, return to the calendar and enter your information. Place your mouse on the top left corner of the Bow Valley Calendar (by the small arrow) and click "Add Events" from the popup menu.

calendar_add.jpg

Step 3: Describe the Event

Using the Event Editor, add the details of your event. This is the "who, what, where, when & why" of an event. At a minimum your event should contain the following:

  • Title
  • Start date
  • End date
  • Location
  • Contact Information
  • Details about the event
  • Relevant information such as ticket prices, parking, etc.

Don't bother with the "bells and whistles" on the calendar unless you're a keen techie. When you are finished submitting your information, click the UPDATE link on the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Your event will not appear on the calendar right away. A moderator will format it, check it for complete content, and post it to the site within 24 hours, from Monday to Friday.

What if my event is happens more than once?

If your event happens at the same time and place on a regular basis, the moderator will post your event accordingly. If you prefer, you can try using the "Recurring Settings" on the calendar.

My event happens weekly, monthly or annually.

Step 1: Type in your event's details as you normally would but set the start and end dates for the first occurrence only.    Step 2: After you have filled in the event details, scroll down and click on the "+" sign next to the words "Recurring Settings". A menu will open.   Step 3: Use the recurring settings menu to select the last day on which your event will reccur. Using the rest of the recurring settings menu, select how often you would like your event to repeat until then.   Step 4: Click UPDATE to save all of your changes.
